Another kindergarten teacher suggested we add a post here for sharing some of our favorite literature books. Please take a minute to share with us a title of a book(s) you think we would enjoy reading to our students. It can be a new title, or one that’s been around for a while.
I’ll get the ball rolling here with a book I found earlier this year. The title is
Cookies: Bite-Size Life Lessons written by Amy Krouse Rosenthal and Illustrated by Jane Dyer. It’s a wonderful book that defines mysteries such as “fair” and “unfair” and what it really means to “cooperate”. It’s beautifully done and is a book that would be a great springboard for classroom discussions on delicate topics.

Check out paperbackswap.com It's a great way to get books for your classroom, and clean out your room (and house). It's free to join and the only cost to you is the postage for books that you send out to other people. About $2/book. Plus, all the books you find and request are free.
Erin,
Thanks for the info. Sounds like a great site. I've gotten used books in GREAT condition and real cheap from the used book section of Amazon.com. Thanks again!

This blog was just what I needed! I ordered some books now to read to the pk and k classes! By looking at the "Cookies" book I found Max's Words by Kate Banks. It is about a boy who sees his siblings collecting things and he decides to collect words. I thought of making "Mrs. K's Favorite Words" in the lobby. I want to get them excited about words.
Erin, Thanks for the idea of paperbackswap.com. I checked it out and it looks great!

Hi There, I am Max's teacher (the boy with the broken leg) and I have just seen him on your blogroll. He will be pleased and I will tell him at school tomorrow!
Hello Marnie,
Yes, I thought Max's blog was an excellent way for teachers, students and parents to see the power and usefulness of a blog. I have been keeping up with his progress. His blog is not only adorable, but a way for him to keep in touch with his classmates.
Be sure to let him know there are teachers and students here in the U.S. that think what he is doing is FANTASTIC!!
I showed Max your blog and comment above today and it gave him a huge grin. Today he walked about 30 metres on his own so we were very proud of him. He feels famous now so thanks for that!
Sara Frandsen shared this book with me and my students and I loved it:
"Matthew A.B.C." by Peter Catalanotto.
If you've ever had more than one kid with the same name in the same class, this book will tickle your funny bone!
